Girls Classes (when applicable) & Beginning group lessons in Charlottesville are $10/lesson (1 hr class) & Intermediate/Advanced group lessons are $15/lesson (2 hr class), payable on the 1st week's lesson.  Please note that some months may have more or less than 4 weeks & prices adjust accordingly.

Harrisonburg group lessons are $12/lesson (1 hr class), payable 1 month ahead on the 1st lesson.  Please note that some months may have more or less than 4 weeks & prices adjust accordingly.

Sheperdstown, WV Beginning group lessons (1 hr class) are $48/month, payable on the 1st week, or $15/lesson.

 

Private Lessons are available.  Please contact Shaheen directly for more information.

Shaheen teaches a Belly Dancing Class for University of Virginia Short Courses 2008!

Short Courses are 6-8 weeks long & are held on the UVa campus.

Both UVa Students & Non-Students can register for them. 

At the end of the short course, Shaheen's class will present a dance for UVa's annual Spring Fling Festival.

(Spring Fling is held in April & has an attendance of approximately 4000 people.)

About Fata Morgana PDF Print E-mail
Fata Morgana strives to bring knowledge of this beautiful dance form to the public in a classy, traditional yet creative manner which can be enjoyed by all. Fata Morgana Bellydance's mission is to educate and encourage while maintaining the highest of standards, and of course, to have fun. Because let's face it, isn't that why we're here?
 
 

 Shaheen Alikhan, troupe leader, has been studying bellydance with numerous teachers since 1998, and founded Fata Morgana in 2002. In addition to dancing she rides and pursues other medieval interests.

 

Lindsey

Lindsey Osborne, a founding member, is a serious equestrian in addition to being a very talented musician. She has studied ballet, modern, and jazz in addition to bellydance, and is also a member of  Fire in the Belly.

 

 

Ashley

Ashley Ogden has studied numerous forms of dance including ballet, jazz, and modern for the majority of her life before coming to bellydance in 2001, and can still remember her first performance piece, 'I am a Dancing Poodle', from when she was two. She is a founding member of Fata Morgana Bellydance and a passionate equestrian.

 

Sara

Sara Taylor has been studying bellydance since 2001, and is a founding member of Fata Morgana Bellydance. She is an avid equestrian, and owns Rapunzel's Coffee and Books in Lovingston.

 

 

Jaime

 Jaime Armstrong has studied bellydance with several teachers, and is a member of Fire in the Belly and Belly Souk in addition to Fata Morgana Bellydance. She is currently taking time off to devote to her new son, Alexander.

 

 

Kelley
  Kelley Wood, also an equestrian, studied bellydance under Anthea Poole for several years, and performed in Northern Virginia as a member of NOVA Folkloric Dance Company. Fata Morgana is honored to welcome her.
 
 
 
Kelly Morikawa, owner of Native Wood Landscaping in Lexington, came to bellydance with previous ballet and modern dance experience. She has studied with several teachers, and is currently working on attaining her Suhaila Salimpour Level 1 certification. Fata Morgana is excited to welcome her to the group.
